Spotlight Blogs and Category Questions

Hi guys. We're going to be making some improvements to the Mormon Mommy Blogs site and would like your input. There are a few polls over there in the sidebar.
The first question asks if you think we should rotate the categories, so that one day the Lighter Side blogs are at the top, the next day, the NEXT category down is at the top, and so on.
The second question asks if you think we should change the categories so that only the ten most recently updated blogs appear within the category. The idea is that we could then consolidate some of the categories, but with fewer blogs appearing at any given time in each category, your blog has a better chance of being seen when you actually update.
The last question has to do with nominating blogs for the Spotlight of the Day/Week.
All of these improvements (including an eventual move to a new and improved blog) are things we are considering in order to help you increase your traffic. Also, I just want to publicly thank the Motherboard for all that she does to keep this site running. I have been seriously slacking, and this blog would no longer exist without all that she does. She's amazing and I'm so grateful that she has been running the show. ~ Sue

hi gals, luv this site :) I'm all for showing the ten recent blogs, wondering if instead of consolidating blog categories, we could add a few. some of the catergories have soo many blogs that it seems impossible to shuffle through them. maybe a development category and a grandmas category? just a few thoughts...thx for letting me ramble...:)

I think rotating catgories is a great idea!
Though I think that only showing the ten most recently updated blogs on some of the larger catagories might be too small of a number.

Thanks for you all you do! I think rotating the blog categories is a good idea and listing the blog by the most recent post is probably a fair way to do that.

Since you asked, I won't feel obnoxious for sharing my opinion. I do think it is a good idea to rotate the categories. Honestly, I get a little dizzy as I scroll down through all 433 blogs. I also think it's a great idea to display 10-15 of the most recently updated blogs in each category.
You know, people like to read fresh stuff. Not that old entries are invalid or boring, it's just that reading blogs that haven't been updated in a while is like shopping for clothes on the "out of season rack." Recently posted stuff is like shopping for clothes in the current season.
And now, I want to go shopping. For clothes that is, not blogs. :)
