Holiday Lights, Breakfast with Santa, an Ice Sculpture Contest and Voice Male in One Location, Starting Nov. 27
Beginning Nov. 27, Thanksgiving Point will transform into Holiday Central, with a month of joyful activities to celebrate the season. Visitors can take in Electric Park’s twinkling holiday light display, eat breakfast with Santa, watch a live ice sculpture contest, experience the voices of a cappella group Voice Male, shop for holiday gifts at Emporium and enjoy a delicious holiday meal at Harvest Restaurant.
Holiday Lights
Thanksgiving Point’s Electric Park dazzles visitors with a drive-through display from 6-10 p.m., Monday through Saturday, beginning Nov. 28 and running through Dec. 28. The outdoor showcase features more than one million sparkling lights set to holiday music, artwork by Simon Dewey and a reading of “The Christmas Story.”
Entry is $8 per car. Guests can also see the lights on the trolley ($2/person, $50 for a reserved trolley of up to 30 people), by horse-drawn wagon ($3/person, $90 for a reserved wagon of up to 35 people) or carriage ($30) or by bus ($25). Special 3-D glasses will be available for purchase to add a new element to the experience. Reservations for wagon, carriage or trolley can be made by calling (801) 738-2300.
Breakfast with Santa
Santa is taking a break from gift-preparation duties to host his annual breakfast at Thanksgiving Point’s Show Barn on Saturday, Nov. 28, Dec. 5, Dec. 12 and Dec. 19, from 9 to 11 a.m. Joined by Mrs. Claus, his elves, the Grinch and the Gingerbread Man, Santa will host breakfast prepared by Harvest Restaurant, games, entertainment, cookie decorating and crafts.
Tickets purchased in advance are $15 for children 12 and under and $20 for kids and adults age 13 and older. Day-of tickets can be purchased for $17 for children 12 and under and $24 for adults. This event traditionally sells out, so advanced tickets are strongly recommended.
Ice Sculpture Contest
Thanksgiving Point will present its first Ice Sculpture Contest on Thursday, Dec. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the outdoor Water Tower Plaza. Spectators can watch the forms take shape as local sculptors are challenged to carve a 300-lb. ice block within the two-hour time limit. Judges will award the best sculptures at 9 p.m.
There is no cost to watch. Sculptures will stay on display at Water Tower Plaza until they melt. To participate in the contest, fill out the online interest form at ThanksgivingPoint.org.
Voice Male Christmas Performance
Utah’s award-winning a cappella group Voice Male will perform its annual Christmas Concert in the Show Barn on Dec. 15-16 at 7:30 p.m. The six-man group will lend their unique twist to holiday classics using only one instrument: their voice. Tickets are $14 in advance or $17 on the day of the event.
