About this time every year I start craving this casserole. It is my family's absolute favorite thing about Christmas morning (besides the presents). I make this up on Christmas Eve afternoon and then put it in the fridge to sit over night. When the kids are done opening presents, I throw this casserole in the oven and let the aroma fill our home.
1lb of Bulk Sausage
8-10 slices of bread, or enough to cover the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish
1 C grated cheddar cheese
12 eggs
3/4 tsp dry mustard
1 1/2 C milk
Brown sausage. Spray bottom of 9x13 pan. Remove the crusts from the bread and line the bottom of pan with bread. Cover with the cheese and sausage. Beat the eggs and add mustard, and milk. Pour over the cheese and sauage. Cover tightly and let sit in refrigerator over night.
1/2 C more of milk
Dilute can of soup with 1/2 C milk. Spoon the mixture over the top of the casserole. Bake at 300° for 1.5 hours or until casserole is set.
