Activity: Give each family member three pieces of yarn. Ask your family if these are separate pieces of yarn, or if they are one. Explain that the individual pieces of yarn are like God the Father, His son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. They are separate, yet they are alike.
Ask: If these pieces of yarn are separate, can they be one?
Braid the pieces of yarn together.
Ask: Are there still three separate pieces of yarn?
Explain that yes, there are still three separate strands, but they have been made one in purpose. This is like the Godhead. God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are separate beings, but they are one in purpose, to help us obtain eternal life. (idea from ldsfamilyfun.com)
Discussion: Read "In These Three I Believe" from President Gordon B. Hinckley. Discuss what you learned about the nature of the Godhead. What attributes do they share? How does having an accurate understanding about this gospel truth bless your life?
